Melodia a fost scrisa de Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel pe versurile lui Lori Lieberman in 1971 si preluata de Roberta Flack in 1973. A redevenit hit in 1997 cind au preluat-o cei de la The Fugees.
Killing Me Softly With His Song The story behind the Roberta Flack/The Fugees number 1 hit record. ''Killing Me Softly With His Song' is an all time classic song and a(IMG:http://www.don-mclean.com/images/lori.jpg) massive number 1 hit for Roberta Flack in 1973 and The Fugees in 1997. The subject of the song is, of course, Don McLean. The story of how the song was written after Lori Lieberman saw Don in concert at the Troubadour in LA was told in a newspaper article from April 1973.
