Y chromosome is not DNA but of course it contains DNA. It is the male chromosome that is switched on in embryos destined to become boys (females have chromosomes XX and males YX, hence females can be said to be female but males are really altered females, male supremacists please note). The Y chromosome is inherited from the father only and in analyses can be used as a counterpart to the all-female mtDNA to give information on the ancestral male lineage.



The structure of the Y and X chromosomes.

Before evolution developed sexual reproduction to increase genetic diversity and thereby adaptability to changing environments, the X was identical to the Y chromosome. Around 300 million ears ago, the Y had changed to the point when it lost the ability to swap DNA with X. As a result the Y has shrunk to the smallest chromosome of them all: it has a mere 40 genes with 60,000 bases. The female X retains 1500 genes with 165,000 bases. SRY is the gene on Y that determines maleness and is thought to have evolved from the SOX4 gene on the X.  The green genes in the above illustration are permanently inactive.

Am vorbit azi cu fetele de la birou despre ceea ce considera ele ca miroase a gay....
Va pun lista, ca nu pot face multe comentarii, unele sunt cam SF  :o :

- cei care plang de fata cu altcineva;
- barbatii care nu suporta sa stea nespalati o zi;
- barbatii care poarta bluze cu burta goala;
- barbatii care poarta pantofi colorati, altfel decat cei sport;
- cei care isi controleaza pozitia corpului si look-ul in toate oglinzile si vitrinele intalnite;
- cei care nu mananca condimentat fara sa aiba motive medicale;
- cei care tin prea mult la parerea celor din jur.
